The 3-colour routine: Cleanse, Activate, Hydrate
Share
Most people don't give up on skincare for lack of motivation. They give up because the routine looks complicated: ten steps, hard-to-pronounce names, products with no obvious order. We simplified it with something that's already on every product label: a colour.
Why the routine has colours
Every product in our face range has a coloured leaf on the label. The colour tells you the category and, with it, the step in your routine:
- Blue · Cleanse. Removes everything that isn't skin.
- Green · Activate. The actives step: serums with a specific job.
- Magenta · Hydrate. Closes the routine and helps skin hold on to water.
- Yellow · Protect. Mornings only, always last.
At night: blue, green, magenta. In the morning: blue, green, magenta and yellow. You don't need to memorise ingredient names to get the order right.
Step 1 · Cleanse (blue)
Cleansing means removing sunscreen, sebum, pollution and leftover make-up without stripping the skin barrier. A good cleanse leaves skin clean, not tight.
- Always cleanse at night. That's when your skin has the most to remove.
- In the morning, if your skin is dry or sensitive, water or a gentle cleanse is enough.
- If you wear tinted sunscreen, a more thorough cleanse at night helps.
Step 2 · Activate (green)
This is where the routine adapts to you. A serum has a concentration of actives designed for one concern. Pick one, two at most, and give it time.
- Prebiotic Serum: prebiotics that support a balanced microbiome and the skin barrier. A good starting point for any skin.
- Peptide + HA Serum: peptides and hyaluronic acid for hydration and a firmer look.
- Bakuchiol Serum: a plant-derived retinol alternative for anyone who wants to look after fine lines with a gentler adjustment.
- Even Tone Serum: alpha-arbutin and niacinamide for a more even-looking tone.
Not sure which to choose? Start with the Prebiotic Serum. It supports the barrier and the microbiome, which are the foundation for everything else, and it works with every other step.
Prebiotic Repair Serum →Step 3 · Hydrate (magenta)
Hydration isn't just for dry skin. Oily skin loses water too, and when it's dehydrated it can produce more sebum to compensate. What changes is the texture you choose.
- Hyaluronic Acid Gel: a light texture that draws water to the skin's surface. Good for combination or oily skin, and for anyone who doesn't like to feel product on their face.
- Niacinamide Gel: designed for sensitive skin. Niacinamide helps balance oiliness and soothe the look of redness.
Apply your moisturiser while your skin is still slightly damp. It helps hold in the water that's already there.
Mornings · Protect (yellow)
Sunscreen is the step most people skip and the one that does the most for skin day to day. No serum replaces it.
- Apply it every morning, even when it's cloudy.
- Use enough: about two finger-lengths of product for face and neck.
- If you're out in the sun, reapply every two hours.
The Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50 uses mineral filters and has a tint, which helps disguise the white cast some mineral sunscreens leave.
How to choose for your skin type
The three steps are the same for everyone. What changes is the product you use in each one.
- Oily or combination skin: Even Tone Serum or Prebiotic Serum for green; Hyaluronic Acid Gel for magenta.
- Dry skin: Peptide + HA Serum for green; moisturiser for magenta, applied to damp skin.
- Sensitive skin: Prebiotic Serum for green; Niacinamide Gel for magenta. Introduce one new product at a time.
- Dark spots: Even Tone Serum for green and sunscreen every morning. Without protection, any dark-spot active loses its point.
- Fine lines: Bakuchiol Serum at night or Peptide + HA Serum, plus yellow in the morning.
Want a pick-me-up during the day? The Prebiotic Facial Mist refreshes skin over make-up or before your moisturiser.
Not sure of your skin type? Take the Skin Diagnosis
Lots of people think their skin is dry when it's actually dehydrated, or oily when only the T-zone shines. The Skin Diagnosis on our website asks a few simple questions about how your skin behaves through the day and suggests a product for each colour.
It doesn't ask your age or gender. It asks what matters: how your skin is doing.
Three mistakes that complicate a routine
- Starting everything at once. If your skin reacts, you won't know to what. Introduce one product at a time.
- Stacking actives in the green step. More serums isn't more care. One or two well-chosen ones are enough.
- Skipping yellow. Without sunscreen in the morning, the routine is only half done.
Finish your morning routine with the Tinted Mineral Sunscreen SPF50: mineral filters, a light tint and a step nothing else replaces.
Tinted Mineral SPF50 →No labels, no limits. Blue, green, magenta. And yellow in the morning.
