Skin has a finite capacity to absorb actives and tolerate stimuli. If you can't answer "what specifically does this product do?" with an active and a mechanism, that product probably isn't contributing anything another in your routine doesn't already do. Practical rule: if two products have overlapping functions, remove the one with less clinical evidence in its formulation.
