Vegan Body Scrub: How to Choose

The microplastics debate contaminated the perception of all physical exfoliation — leading many people to abandon natural scrubs out of fear. The distinction is important: microplastics (polyethylene, polypropylene) persist in the environment for decades; sugar granules, sea salt and seeds dissolve within hours. The problem isn't the scrub — it's the material.

Natural Vegan Granules That Work

  • Fine sugar — dissolves during massage, releasing natural glycolic acid; gentle and effective
  • Sea salt — more abrasive, ideal for robust body skin; rich in minerals
  • Oat flour — very gentle exfoliation + anti-inflammatory; ideal for sensitive body skin
  • Raspberry or strawberry seeds — uniform granulometry, no irregular edges
  • Coconut shell powder — medium to abrasive; no microplastics, biodegradable

For the face, the Lactic Acid Serum does the work of granules without the risk of micro-abrasions on delicate facial skin.

What to Avoid in Exfoliants

  • Polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon in the INCI list → microplastics, documented environmental impact
  • Ground peach or apricot stone → irregular edges that create micro-lesions
  • Coarse rock salt on the face → too abrasive for facial skin

Correct Frequency by Zone

  • Body (normal skin): 2–3x/week
  • Body (dry/sensitive skin): 1–2x/week with very fine granules
  • Face: avoid granules; prefer chemical exfoliation
  • After exfoliation: moisturiser immediately — skin is more receptive

After body exfoliation, the Nourishing Oil applied to still-damp skin is the most effective moisturiser — skin absorbs lipids 10x more efficiently after exfoliation.
